Flight Following = Peace of mind
Every VIH Cougar Helicopters aircraft has a state of the art Blue Sky Network tracking, data and voice communications system on board so that we can offer advanced, satellite based, aircraft tracking and communications to every customer.
We will provide you with a private username and password that allows you to log in from any internet computer and see the current location, altitude and speed of your aircraft. You can also see the destination and ETA of your aircraft and if requested, you can view the passenger manifest as well.
Our flight followers monitor our aircraft in the Gulf using the Blue Sky Network which means we never have a radio communications issue and we can set up operations anywhere in the GOM at a moment's notice.
What does this have to do with safety you ask?
There are at least five key safety benefits to global tracking and communications:
- Both the pilot and the customer on board the aircraft know that they are being tracked. This removes the conflict many pilots have had to deal with in the past when the desire to "please" the customer might have caused them to make last minute changes to the flight plan which they may not have had sufficient time to consider carefully.
- Satellite based tracking means that if an aircraft goes missing, we can view the last known location, direction, altitude and speed. This means a Search and Rescue Mission can focus much less on the Search and much more on the Rescue. Finding survivors is always the most critical phase of any rescue. With satellite based tracking, VIH Cougar Helicopters never lets our customers out of our sight.
- When the situation changes enroute - whether it is due to unforecast weather, an in-flight emergency or simply a customer request, our crews have instant communications capability, at any altitude and in any location. They can get questions answered and report critical information and have the full support of our entire company at their fingertips.
- Because satellite based communication is private, it also allows our customers to communicate about enroute issues such as damage reports, asset locations or other critical and private information that will accelerate your decision making process. Not only is this a commercial benefit, more importantly it allows you to have all of the information you need to make the right logictical decisions using a private communications link to the aircraft.
- Satellite based communication works just as well during and after a hurricane as it did before the storm. This means you can safely maintain all your standard operations while returning to your properties - regardless of power outages, broken antennas or other damage. No compromise on safety is required to get back to work as quickly as possible.
If your company is considering operations in deep water or new operations in the eastern GOM, we are ready to go today.
